Wes Anderson Directs a Quirky Holiday Train Tale for H&M
Spot Stars Adrien Brody as a Conductor Who Saves Christmas
Editor's Pick
H&M has enlisted director Wes Anderson to bring his stylishly quirky touch to its Christmas ad this year.
The spot, by Adam&Eve/DDB London, is set on a train which has been delayed by "11 and a half hours" due to snowy weather on Christmas Eve .
Actor Adrien Brody (who has starred in Anderson films including 'The Grand Budapest Hotel') plays the train's conductor, who does his best to put on a festive treat for the passengers. All the passengers (whom we originally see looking worried, through the windows of their individual compartments, that their Christmas will be ruined) are clad in items from H&M's holiday clothing collection. Although it might start out all a bit "Murder on the Orient Express," by the time they all come together to celebrate it's more "Polar Express," and you'll be beaming benevolently.
The set, with its pastel colors and gorgeously stylized look, is vintage Anderson, as is Brody's poker-faced performance. This is Christmas advertising for the indie movie-lover -- a smart move for a fashion brand trying to stand out from the crowd.
