Things Get Really Weird in This New Ad for Normal Brand Earphones
Partners & Spade and Director Jun Diaz Introduce You to the Ear Tailor
Jul 21, 2014
Ears are so unique they're a form of identification now-- a fact ear and headphone company Normal is hyper aware of. The brand boasts its very own application that allows you to photograph each ear in order to get a custom 3D-printed set of earbuds.
To promote this service, the brand launched this spot, out of New York-based agency Partners & Spade. It follows an enthusiastic, albeit quite peculiar, spokesman on a backwards walk as he expounds on the complexities of our funniest looking organ. He then presents the even weirder character known as the "Ear Tailor," whose job is pretty much what it sounds like.
The agency reunites Smuggler director Jun Diaz and Cut + Run editor Akiko Iwakawa for the ad. Around this time last year, the duo had created a series of quirky and, in some cases, dark set of short films for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards.
