Taco Bell has finally released its Taco Emoji after a year-long campaign to bring it to life -- and it's rewarding fans with a fun social campaign.
In the campaign, by Deutsch L.A., Taco Bell started a Change.org petition in November 2014 asking the Unicode Consortium to "release a taco emoji into the wild." Fans amassed nearly 33,000 signatures and now Taco Bell has launched a social campaign around the launch. With the Taco Emoji Engine, developed by Deutsch on Twitter, people can tweet @tacobell with a taco emoji plus any other emoji, and they'll instantly receive a unique photo, gif, or illustration in response. Here's one example of when tacos meet fashion, and another showing what happens when they meet apples.
Taco Bell is also releasing limited edition Doritos Locos Tacos (DLT) holsters, its taco-holding wrappers, that have been redesigned to incorporate the taco emoji.
