ESPN’s fantasy football greeting cards are full of smack talk

Fantasy football trash talk is reaching new levels of disrespect, thanks to a new campaign from ESPN created by agency BSSP. Inspired by the many fantasy leagues now underway, ESPN launched a brutal trio of season’s greeting cards aimed at throwing digs and downright humiliating the underachievers in people’s leagues. Perfect for rubbing salt in those mid-season wounds, “Fantasy Season’s Greetings” play into the tropes of holiday cards, congratulations cards, thank-you cards, friendship cards and more. Except this time, the inside of the cards contains (friendly) banter about an opponent’s losses. Samples in the collection include a “Get Well Soon,” an “I Love Having You Around” and a “Today Is a Good Day” card. Of course, flip it open and it is followed by a phrase that adds insult to injury. The campaign aims to add an extra layer of sass to a competitive football season already filled with friendly smackdowns. The cards can be purchased online and follow ESPN’s and BSSP’s fourth installment of the “Only in Fantasy” campaign that celebrates some of the most unforgettable moments in football that occur around tables, living rooms and in garages thanks to fantasy leagues.
