Lynx Opaque's "Best of the Bunch," a new Weyerhaeuser paper promotion from L.A. agency Dailey & Associates, designed by Squires & Co. in Dallas, is inspired by a ripe notion. In the words of Weyerhaeuser, it celebrates "an eclectic collection of colorful fruit crate labels originally created for agricultural farmers to differentiate their products. Custom paintings, mascots and unusual typography were used to create each label's unique identity." Illustrating North American agricultural history from the '20s through the early '50s turned out to be "a marriage of function and beauty that provides the perfect overall metaphor for the Lynx product line." Peachy. In addition, three original paintings were created for Weyerhaeuser specifically for this piece. See www.lynxopaque.com for more on the paper, and www.fruitcratelabels.com and www.crateart.com for more on the art.
