Virgin Atlantic Warns You Not to Let it Become One

According to Virgin Atlantic, research has shown that one in three British people spends some of their annual vacation time in the office. That statistic has prompted the airline to launch a funny satirical ad that promotes a boring-looking office as a holiday destination.

The spot, created by Adam & Eve/DDB and directed by The Bobbsey Twins From Homicide via Blink, is narrated by Judith Chalmers, a British TV personality known for presenting vacation and travel shows in the 70s and 80s, and the cheesy sax music is reminiscent of those shows.

As she explains how ideal and convenient the office is as a holiday destination, offering a "vibrant culture," great views and "local delicacies," we see footage of a drab-looking office block, complete with miserable microwave lunches, instant coffee and views of crates and a parking lot. Chalmers also mentions the great a la carte menu (a vending machine), opportunites to get active (carrying around paperwork) and happening nightlife (an exhausted employee still at her desk in darkness.) It ends by informing us: "1 in 3 people spend their holiday in the office. Don't be one of them."

The ad is running as Virgin Atlantic is holding a worldwide sale offering discounted flights to a range of destinations.
