Halifax remakes 'Ghostbusters' in its latest banking mash-up
More clever craft to sell financial services, via Adam&Eve/DDB
Editor's Pick
U.K. bank Halifax is back with yet another mash-up of a classic film into financial advice--this time taking on the 1984 classic "Ghostbusters."
Previous spots in the campaign by Adam&Eve/DDB saw the brand make the leap from cartoons like The Flintstones into live action, or dive into the world of "The Wizard of Oz." The "Ghostbusters" mash-up is similar to the latter, in that the Halifax bank employee steps straight into a scene from the film, walking between Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd and getting slimed by the "slimer" ghost. He quips that he prefers no contact; the ad promotes the bank's contactless payment cards.
Once again, the craft is great--even if we guess diehard "Ghostbusters" aficionados (some of whom objected to the recent all-female remake) might hate it.
