Turn your fingers into hot dogs

A24 is making one of the stranger moments in its overall strange film, “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” a reality. The film, which stars Michelle Yeoh (“Crazy Rich Asians”) as a dimension-hopping mom-turned-superhero, features a universe in which instead of fingers, hot dogs flop limply from people’s palms. Now you can have hot dog fingers, too. The film studio has released a set of hot dog finger gloves. The handwear is the same not-quite-orange shade of an edible dog with unsettlingly realistic wrinkle and vein detailing on the hands, made even more grotesque by the long, smooth fingers. The gloves are packaged in a yellow-and-red box meant to imitate lunch meat packaging, specifically the Oscar Mayer logo. The box also features copy that begins as if describing food regulations but slowly devolves into something more unusual. “Pre-tenderized,” it reads, “USDA recommends hot dogs for fingers. You are not unlovable. There is always something to love. Fingers may ooze condiments when engaged in love rituals.” The box’s backside shows images from the hot dog finger scenes Yeoh shares with Jamie Lee Curtis in the film as well as the line, “Together, life can be so delicious!” A24 has built a market around bespoke product marketing for its films. For last year’s “Zola,” the studio published a hardbound version of the viral tweet thread the film was based on, as well as board games, skateboards and beauty products. For “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” the studio has also built buzz on social media around a series of posters created for the different universes explored in the film.
