It was only a matter of time before all those ads in which elite athletes tell us, inspirationally, how they took on the "naysayers" and haters and all those horrible, negative people who tried to tell them they weren't good enough, got their very own parody commercial. (Yes, we're looking at you, Adidas and Under Armour -- and countless others that have followed in your footsteps.)

In this spot for fast food drive-in chain Sonic, NBA star Kevin Durant starts off with the same premise. The ad kicks off with Durant giving a serious-sounding monologue about how he's going to prove the doubters wrong as we see him training hard on court. Only this time he actually means something different -- he's taking on those who said he couldn't finish Sonic's Ultimate Chicken Club sandwich. (It's just going to take him a while.)

The spot, by Goodby Silverstein & Partners and directed by Biscuit's Clay Weiner, is one of an ongoing series starring Durant for the Oklahoma City-based chain. In another new ad out this week, Durant stars with Sonic's "Two Guys" characters Pete and T.J., having agreed to teach T.J. the game of basketball in exchange for an Ultimate Chicken Club sandwich.
