People looking for words of wisdom from a U.S. president on Twitter now have an alternative option to Donald Trump: JFK is tweeting from beyond the grave.
The latest campaign by the JFK Library has activated the Twitter handle @JohnFKennedy, and will post tweets featuring exact quotations from the late president together with the hashtag "#Words Count." It's part of a wider campaign by The Martin Agency, which will run into 2019 encompassing digital, outdoor and OOH ads as well as the Twitter feed.
Tellingly, it's the second time this year that agencies have tried to bring JFK's political thoughts to life for a new generation. Earlier this year, a campaign by Irish agency Rothco for the Times of London recreated John F Kennedy's final speech in A.I. The campaign won the Creative Data Grand Prix at Cannes Lions.
“With each call to action made by President Kennedy during his time in office, he invited Americans to help him solve problems facing our nation,” said Steven Rothstein, executive director at the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, in a statement. “Today, we see citizen activism on the rise, increased voter participation rates and a new generation that is speaking out and getting involved in the political process. With the launch of this effort, we hope JFK’s words will speak directly to them, with the immediacy and urgency of a modern platform, to be a guiding light as they set out to shape our future.”
