To promote its new reality show "The Job Interview," which starts tonight, CNBC staged a stunt on the streets of New York in which it interviewed job candidates in a glass box with crowds of people watching.
The stunt, by Droga5 New York, took place last week and was aimed at highlighting the stressful and nerve-racking nature of interviews. Candidates were recruited through a staffing agency and the stunt saw 11 people interviewed for real jobs (one for ABS Staffing and another for Baked by Melissa).
"The Job Interview" will bring viewers into the room as real employers conduct real interviews with real candidates, only one of whom will land an offer. I promises to explore "the world where the words you say, the clothes you wear, and even the expression on your face can mean the difference between success and failure."
"When watching CNBC shows, the ambition you feel is contagious, and as a viewer that is an active emotion. Droga5 and CNBC wanted to capture the very personal and high-pressure moments of a job interview in a fun, emotional, and nerve-wracking way and the stunt allowed us to do just that," says Don Shelford, group creative director, Droga5.
