KitchenAid appliance or cake? Brand enlists cake artist for a tasty new campaign
Zulu Alpha Kilo enlisted cake artist April Julian from Netflix’s ‘Is It Cake?’ to make confectionery versions of KitchenAid units

Happy Monday! This week’s ouroboros of a campaign comes from Zulu Alpha Kilo, which hired a cake artist from Netflix’s “Is It Cake?” to use KitchenAid appliances to make cake versions of KitchenAid appliances.
The circular logic behind the campaign is nicely mind-bending, and April Julian’s creations—confectionery versions of the Stand Mixer, Range and Fridge—certainly look good enough to eat.
“Making a tasty facsimile of an appliance with that appliance felt like the perfect expression of all that is possible with KitchenAid brand,” said Michael Siegers, creative director at Zulu Alpha Kilo.
“For those who love to create, this campaign is a reminder that the kitchen is a place of joy, discovery, and creativity—especially when KitchenAid appliances are involved!” added Janice Ryder, country manager, KitchenAid Small Appliances.
Previous riffs on “Is It Cake?” in the brand world include Philadelphia Cream Cheese’s 2022 holiday campaign, “Cheesecake Is Everything,” created by Gut.
