Grey Poupon : The Lost Footage
Pardon me...
Editor's Pick
This weekend's Oscars telecast will feature a generous helping of nostalgia, thanks to Grey Poupon.
The Associated Press reports that the Kraft Foods brand is set to debut a new television spot that will bring back the infamous "Pardon Me" spot over 25 years after it first aired. While it begins in a similar fashion as the original spot, with a gentleman pulling up his car alongside another on a countryside road to inquire whether the aristocratic gentleman inside has any Grey Poupon mustard. "But of course," the man replies, and hands him a jar through the car window.
The new spot, titled "Lost Footage" and directed by Hungry Man's Bryan Buckley, continues the story, to show that the borrower--who happens to look a lot like John Cleese, never, in fact, returned the precious mustard. What ensues is a car chase, shot in a similar, old-timey style as the original spot. The end of the commercial leads GreyPouponChase.com, where a short film showing the entire car chase will premiere Sunday night after the spot airs during the Oscars. The spot will air on TV just once.
Previously, the mustard brand and Crispin debuted the exclusive "Society of Good Taste" Facebook page, which only let Grey Poupon fans "like" the page after they took a "test" that showed they had good taste -- or were exceptionally snooty.
