Families of Gay, Transgender and Adopted Children Celebrate Acceptance on 'Love Day' in Ad From Honey Maid

Ad From Droga5 Honors a Different Kind of Love Ahead of Valentine's Day

Description

Honey Maid and Droga5 captured the spotlight when they redefined the idea of "wholesome" family life to encompass not just "traditional" clans, but also those comprising gay couples, interracial spouses and their kids and more.

Today, to celebrate Valentine's Day, the brand and the agency celebrate love -- not the romantic kind, but the kind reflected when someone accepts you for who you are, or even, when you accept yourself.

Continuing the "This Is Wholesome" campaign, Honey Maid has debuted a video honoring "Love Day." It starts by saying, "Let's think of love differently" and then goes on to compile heartwarming scenes of acceptance from real-world families. In one clip, a gay boy cries as he comes out to his mother and receives a tremendous, warm hug, a Korean adoptee thanks and reaches out to his birth parents, a transgender young man shows his gratitude toward his mom for loving him all the same and two boys, one black and one white, talk about how they're real brothers, despite being adopted.

The ad then goes on to encourage viewers to tag those they love in the comments of the Youtube video with a heart symbol: <3.

As celebrated in the film, the idea of "Love Day" is sweet, but we also can't help but be reminded of this classic moment from "The Simpsons."
