Nick Saban is the worst vacation host ever in Vrbo’s new comic ad

Anomaly's spot with the Alabama coaching legends promotes Vrbo’s rentals without hosts

College football legend Nick Saban continues to enforce strict rules in retirement, much as he did as a coach, in a new campaign for vacation rental platform Vrbo. 

In a 60-second spot titled “Relax,” created by Anomaly, Saban humorously turns into the most demanding vacation rental host of all time. As visitors arrive, he enforces a strict playbook of ridiculous house rules: no streaming, no games and no kids in the house, among other things.

The spot humorously points out why vacations are better without a host—especially when that host is the retired Alabama coach known for his uncompromising and demanding leadership style.

The campaign pushes Vrbo’s private vacation homes (with no hosts) as a key differentiator from competitors. It also marks Vrbo’s third season as an official sponsor of the College Football Playoff and the title sponsor of the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.

The spot will debut during this weekend’s college football games on Aug. 31 and will run throughout the season. Other campaign components, including media integrations, stadium signage and OOH, will run at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. Additional ad campaign elements will run targeting fans of Alabama, Ohio State and Texas through Vrbo’s partnership with Learfield.
