Michael Gracey, director of "The Greatest Showman," lends his cinematic touch to a new spot for Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus, in which a giant moon rolls through an urban landscape.
The film introduces a partnership between OnePlus and Hasselblad, which has provided the camera technology for its latest phone. Hasselblad created the first camera on the moon for NASA’s lunar landing. That served as inspiration for the spot, in which the moon casts its light on urban architecture, an owl, mannequins in a store window, construction workers and more. "Just a thought...what if we let more light in?" asks the narrator.
The spot was created via Mother Shanghai and produced via Unlisted and Finch. It's running from mid-March in China and international markets.
“I took this simple thought and got to bring it to life in such a whimsical way," Gracey said in a statement. "We were limited by the circumstances at the time (lockdown, remote shooting, etc.), so it took a little bit of practical effects and a lot of imagination, but it was a brilliant collaboration that I feel is a direct reflection of the OnePlus x Hasselblad partnership.”
