Oreo serves up bat-embossed cookies in partnership with 'The Batman'

The cookie brand is linking with forthcoming superhero film in pan-European digital campaign

Oreo is linking with Batman's latest iteration, the forthcoming superhero movie "The Batman," in a new pan-European digital campaign that will include bat-branded cookies and online riddle solving.

The Mondelez cookie brand is kicking off the campaign, by Saatchi & Saatchi's Dusseldorf office, today across all digital channels in Europe. Limited edition Oreo packs feature cookies embossed with a Batman design. The cookies will be on shelves across multiple European markets and a promotional film, produced by Sesucht and Pop Studios that recreates iconic Batman scenes entirely made out of Oreos, will drive awareness.

The digital campaign will also include interactive posts with riddles on Instagram. People can also answer riddles on a website to enter a virtual version of the Batcave to unlock secrets related to the movie. Media.Monks is responsible for the digital experience.

"It’s an amazing opportunity to create a playful experience together with a much-loved icon," said Chiara Missio, marketing director for Treats Biscuits at Mondelez Europe. “One that builds on the narrative of riddles, but lets fans engage and immerse into The Batman world, even far beyond the film. These are the kind of experiences that make us connect with our consumers and allow them to stay playful.”

"The Batman," which stars Robert Pattinson as the eponymous hero, is currently slated for release on March 4, having been delayed from June 2021 due to the pandemic.
