Charter Communications' cable brand Spectrum has debuted its latest monster-themed ad, this time riding the back-to-school wave with a tale about werewolf parents.

The continuing campaign from Something Different sees the werewolf dad from the original spot (featuring a cast of suburban monsters on a train) joined by his better half in a meeting with their daughter's teacher, who shows them some of their child's recent artwork.

While Mom and Dad are impressed -- "Wow, this is great! I love those little sticky things," the father says, noticing the Post-Its on the page. The teacher notes, however, that those are meant to cover some questionable images and "pretty rough language."

"It's called 'Daddy on DirecTV,'" she explains of the work, prompting a rant from the father about DirecTV's lousy deals and lack of NFL, captured colorfully on the page.

The monsters have made for a memorable approach to competitive advertising. As directed by black comedy specialist David Shane of O Positive, the spot continues to bring character-driven flair and humor that will make you laugh rather than wince.
