Maybe it's something to do with the pandemic, but the public appetite for bizarre product mashups is never-ending. 

The latest comes from Pizza Hut, which has teamed up with fellow Yum Brands restaurant KFC to offer "Popcorn Chicken Pizza." Starting in the U.K. and then rolling out to 10 other markets, the limited edition pizza was first trialed last year for nine days and proved so popular that the brands decided to go ahead with a bigger rollout.

The launch is being supported by a TV ad via Pizza Hut's agency Iris Worldwide featuring brand ambassador, Parker J. Parkerson, directed by Clay Weiner of Biscuit. In the spot, he warns the internet to ‘brace itself’ as he reveals a collaboration so mind-blowing it could possibly "break the internet." This will also be supported by activations on TikTok and Instagram Reels, including a new dance to a "Pizza Hut and KFC song" performed by dance group Diversity’s Perri Kiely. It's the first time the two brands have ever collaborated on an ad campaign.

“People just don't expect two big brands in the same category to come together like this," said Ian Bradbury, Chief Client Officer, Iris, in a statement. "This paved the way for a clear opportunity for us to have some fun with our brand ambassador, to share this incredible news in the way that only he can.”
