Corbis : Readymech Cameras- Peyote

With alchemic illustration and snippets from Corbis' extensive stock images library, the design firm Fwis has created downloadable, DIY pinhole camera patterns, available online. With a roll of old-school film, a printer and a few office supplies, users can make their very own arty pinhole cameras, primitive devices that use a tiny hole as a lens and a manual shutter to capture light images on film, the old-fashioned way. Users can also choose from a variety of vibrant, image-smattered patterns and camera shapes. The print-and-built concept extends from Fwis' previously designed Readymech toys. Direct email and mentions on Corbis' Web site and in its newsletter drive traffic to the site. The cameras are part of the stock image company's larger interactive efforts, with a special nod to the history of photography and the tradition of hands-on artistic creation.
