Trump Does Not Join The Rock, Pokemon Go and Carpool Karaoke in YouTube's 2016 Rewind Video

Pokemon Go, Carpool Karaoke, the Mannequin Challenge and the craze for water bottle flipping all feature in YouTube's 2016 "Rewind" film, its now annual mashup of the year in video. The film debuted alongside YouTube's announcement of its top trending videos of 2016. Set to a compilation of some of the biggest music hits of the year like Justin Bieber's "Sorry" and Chainsmokers' "Closer," it's a relentlessly upbeat summary that, for the most part, remains rooted in its world of memes, creators and viral videos. The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson, who set up his own YouTube channel this year, opens the video, and then is joined by the likes of PewDiePie, Lilly Singh, Casey Neistat, Hannah Hart, Pikotaro and Grace Helbig. There are also references to Kanye West's controversial "Famous" music video, and, in a nod to its massive influence on social media this year, plenty of time devoted to James Corden and Carpool Karaoke. Although "Daily Show" host Trevor Noah does make an appearance, the film largely shies away from big world events -- there's no mention of Hillary, Brexit or Trump for example. Trump, however, did make it to #8 on globally top trending videos, via a John Oliver "Last Week Tonight" monologue.
