Biscuit's Jeff Low directs intricately animated spot for the craft gin brand

British craft gin brand Sipsmith is using stop-motion animation to bring its brand to life in the biggest campaign in its 10-year history. 

The work, created via Ogilvy U.K., features a dapper swan character (voiced by comedy actor Julian Barratt, known for "The Mighty Boosh") who explains the gin-making process to the viewer. The script both blends serious information about the craft with a slightly satirical take on the genre. For example:  "We only use gin from the heart of the batch," he pronounces, but when asked by a worker what they do with the rest, he confesses "I don't know."

The spot was directed by Jeff Low at Biscuit, with animation done by some of the team who worked on Wes Anderson's "Isle of Dogs" and "Fantastic Mr Fox." According to Ogilvy, the production replicates the distillation process in intricate detail, for example, the miniature bottles were hand-dipped in wax; even the inside pocket of Mr Swan's suit is hand-stitched. 

The work is running on TV, social channels and in cinemas from April.
