Sky Cinema's Launch Spot Pays Homage to Iconic Movies in Dust Swirls
'Game of Thrones' Titles Creators Elastic Worked on Film Promoting Subscription Service
Editor's Pick
Sky's agency WCRS recruited the talents of some top Hollywood titles creators for an ad launching Sky Cinema, its new movie subscription platform, across Europe.
The spot pays homage to some of cinema's best films, from "Forrest Gump" to "E.T." to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," alongside imagery from those movies recreated and animated as swirling dust particles illuminated by a cinema projector. It was directed by Patrick Clair, who was also responsible for the title sequences of "The Night Manager" and "True Detective," and the images were animated by Elastic, the L.A. studio behind the "Game of Thrones" title sequence.
Leon Jaume, executive creative director at WCRS, said in a statement: "Our campaign has two aims: to reveal the qualities of Sky Cinema and to evoke the mighty emotional punch of great film-making. And we made it with Patrick Clair, one speck of dust at a time. Probably took longer than Apocalypse Now."
