This week, Swedish furniture retailer Ikea announced it will be extending its "life improvement" mandate into the realm of energy conservation by selling solar panels in its U.K. stores.

According to the AP, it will offer a standard 3.36 kilowatt system for 5,700 pounds, or $9,200. The package will also include installation, maintenance, energy monitoring and--as Ikea offers with its kitchens--in-store consultation and design.

The panels are manufactured by Chinese company Hanergy. The first will go on sale at Ikea's Southampton store next Monday.
