The Tate London has teamed with Aardman Animation and Fallon London on The Tate Movie, an upcoming animated feature film that is bringing children into the heart of the moviemaking process via a skills and community-building website.

The site itself acts as a virtual movie studio, where children can contribute their drawings, ideas, help make various decisions about the film, develop animation skills, connect with other budding animators and get updates on the film's progress. Kids will be involved in every aspect of the film, including the creation of characters, plot lines and sound.

Additionally, Tate and Aardman will be driving animation workshop trucks across the U.K. to solicit the talent of children across the country for film ideas. Local galleries will also be holding workshops, where the children will be able to contribute their talents. After art work is collected, the Aardman team will streamline it into the complete film, which is set to debut in the U.K. in 2011.
