Geico's latest ad resurrects McGruff the Crime Dog, the star of 1980s PSAs from the National Crime Prevention Council, for a joke about people's tendency to address their pets in baby talk.
In the spot, mixing live action and an animated McGruff, the character tries to give the police a hot crime tip, but they don't listen, instead talking back to him about walkies and poo-poo. "As long as people talk baby talk to dogs, you can count on Geico saving folks money," is the punch line.
Randy Krallman at Smuggler directed, for the Martin Agency.
