These Delta Short Films Spoof Primetime Dramas Like 'Scandal' and 'Veep'
Airline Engages Viewers With Messages About Innovations Via Witty Scripts and Casting
Editor's Pick
A new series of short films from Delta Airlines deliberately spoofs primetime dramas like "Scandal" and "Veep" in an effort to engage viewers with messages about its customer innovations.
For example, the "Scandal"-inspired spot seen here, "Turbulence," features two political fixers having a charged conversation about taking a flight to D.C. The woman (who's delivery is impeccably Olivia Pope) hates turbulence, but the man explains that Delta has a new system where passengers are given more advance warning about bumpy weather to come.
Another spot features a kooky female politician (think "Veep") who's lost her luggage; her aides explain that had she flown with Delta, she would have benefited from its RFID baggage tracking technology. A third film takes the form of gritty crime thriller (inspired by "Blacklist"), with a government agent and FBI fugitive hunting down notorious criminals with the help of Delta's biometric boarding passes.
The parodies benefit from the clever scripts and spot-on casting. Delta worked with Atlanta agency Moxie on the project, while Decon directing collective JEAN was behind the camera. The films are running online and on social channels.
