Nagging parents are the villains in VW's high-speed car chase ad
Ogilvy Cape Town's spot for the T-Cross features a couple being pressured to marry

The high-speed car chase may be a staple of auto advertising, but an ad for the Volkswagen T-Cross from South Africa puts a funny new spin on the genre.
The spot, by Ogilvy Cape Town, features a young couple in a diner who are suddenly interrupted by searchlights from outside. It's their parents and families, who have turned up to pressure the couple into getting married. They escape in the T-Cross in a dramatic chase—one mom pursues in a helicopter while another speeds by in a taxi, announcing via megaphone that she wants grandchildren. They seem to get away—but can they really escape? The tagline is "Play by your rules."
The spot was shot in downtown Johannesburg by director Anton Visser of Patriot. The ad also happens to be one of the first to showcase the brand's newly revamped logo.)
