Waitrose's festive ad this year stars its real-life suppliers and employees, highlighting the lengths they go to in order to supply the ingredients for the annual Christmas feast. 

Created via Adam&Eve/DDB, and shot by Smuggler's Henry-Alex Rubin, the spot follows them working in all weather conditions from January through to the festive season . Only the celebrating family at the end of the spot are actors. We see pork farmers smashing through an iced-over drinking trough, fences being put up with lighnting in the background, farmers working through the hot summer to get their crops ready, Brussels sprout picking in the torrential rain and apple picking in high winds at Waitrose's Leckford Estate farm. “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” by Bing Crosby provides the soundtrack.

“It’s becoming increasingly difficult to stand out at Christmas, making it tempting to create epic narratives with heaving tables of food," said Matt Gay, creative director at Adam&Eve/DDB, in a statement. "But we just didn’t feel that was the right approach, considering the social climate. So when we saw a  script that had a unique take on Christmas, it felt like a refreshing way to go.”
