Toyota “The Joneses”

Toyota’s Super Bowl LVI halftime commercial is about “keeping up with the Joneses.” Literally. In a barren landscape, we see Tommy Lee Jones, Leslie Jones and Rashida Jones racing each other in their Toyota trucks while the Tom Jones’ classic “It’s Not Unusual” plays. They make their way to Colorado’s Jones Pass (of course!) and triumphantly reach a snowy mountain peak—where they’re joined, to their collective dismay, by a not-quite-Jones: pop star Nick Jonas. “Try to keep up, whoever you are,” says Tommy Lee Jones. Bryan Buckley directed “The Joneses” for Saatchi & Saatchi. Toyota’s other Super Bowl LVI ad, “Brothers” (also from Saatchi & Saatchi), aired in the first quarter.
