BBH London promoted Ian Heartfield from executive creative director to chief creative officer. Anthony Austin, who shared the ECD role since July 2017 and founded Black Sheep Studios, departs the agency. Heartfield joined BBH in 2010 after working at Ogilvy, AMV BBDO and Fallon. In the past eight years, he led accounts including Absolut, Uber and Audi, the agency's founding client.
Robin Forbes was promoted to executive vice president, managing director of R/GA New York. He had led the agency's global Samsung business and served as SVP, group managing director, working with clients including Verizon, Samsung, Jet.com, and Johnson & Johnson. Before joining the agency, he spent 13 years on the management team at Blast Radius before its sale to WPP. He also worked as a consultant at Arthur Andersen and helped implement a World Bank education initiative in Chile.
Vox Media hired Hetal Patel as its first head of sales research and insights. She reports to Ryan Pauley, now senior vice president, business operations and strategy, after being promoted from vice president, revenue operations and general manager of Concert, Vox Media's publisher-led marketplace. Patel joins after five years at iHeartMedia, where she was VP of corporate and consumer insights. She has also worked with clients such as Nielsen, Radius GMR & KPMG Nunwood.
180LA hired Copywriter Will Sands and Art Director Robison Mattei. Previously, Sands worked at Deutsch and AKQA, and Mattei comes by way of Saatchi & Saatchi LA, CP&B, JWT Sao Paulo and Leo Burnett Dubai. They have worked on accounts including Taco Bell, Air Jordan, Samsung and Coach. Copywriter Jim Goodrich and Art Director Elizabeth Lay also join the agency, after four years of collaboration at Wongdoody and David & Goliath.
Y&R Health and Wellness promoted Efren Vaca to executive vice president, managing director, North America. An 18-year veteran of the agency, he has led global efforts for categories such as oncology, autoimmune, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, neurology, women's health and skincare, and he has worked on brands like AT&T, DuPont, MetLife, Philip Morris, and Poland Spring.
Instrument hired Tsilli Pines as vice president of creative. She is the co-founder and director of Design Week Portland and hosted the Portland chapter of the lecture series CreativeMornings from 2011 until 2018. Prior to that, she was creative director at Portland-based brand agency Fine. She has also built her own product line and led art and design projects for New York Times Magazine and World Domination Summit.
