Arnold, Psyop Break Animated VW Campaign

They've been busy at Arnold Worldwide. We've almost lost track of how many new Volkswagen campaigns the shop has broken in the last two months. There's the Turbo TV campaign and the Kuntz & Maguire spots, and now another new spot, "DNA," which is slated to break today. This one, however, might be the most notable for its total lack of metal and live-action. Created by New York animation house Psyop, the spot features animation that morphs between scenes of engineers tweaking VW's down through the years, from the original Beetle to the new Beetle. "What kind of people finish something, but are never quite done with it," the voiceover asks, as the POV zooms and small details -- like rearview mirrors -- become windows into the next scene. "Maybe these people have some kind of weird DNA, these engineers and designers," the VO concludes, as the tag -- "Volkswagen. Makes it better." -- comes in. The campaign, based on illustratons by Evan Hecox, includes two more executions, which are expected to break in February.
