After over a year of lockdowns and quarantines, ride share apps are seeing a surge activity. Lyft wants to make customer rides as memorable as possible, partnering with Oscar Meyer to surprise a few lucky customers with a trip in the most exclusive wheels in town—the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile. From Aug. 25 to 27 in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago, Lyft XL riders may receive a ride in the hot-dog-shaped vehicle, equipped with neon lights, music, and free swag including Weenie Whistles. Riders won't know they are being picked up by the Wienermobile until it arrives.
“Oscar Mayer has a legacy of elevating enjoyment from people’s plates into pop culture – from our 27-foot long Wienermobile, to the iconic Weenie Whistle, to the famed ‘Oh I wish’ jingle. With the world as our canvas and meat as our medium, we want to do all we can to spark unexpected smiles wherever we go.” said Megan Lang, Associate Marketing Director, Oscar Mayer, in a press release.
The event comes after the food brand’s newest campaign, “Keep It Oscar,” launched earlier this spring to encourage customers to take life a little less seriously. The campaign kicked off in April with two commercials, “Yum” and “Laser Eyes,” followed in May by three more kooky spots, “Sandwich Bed,” “Sandwich Ghost” and “Pick Me.” The ads brought to life animated visions of sliced-bread mattresses and turkey sheets, toddlers with hot dog-stealing superpowers, sandwich specters floating to the afterlife, and bacon slice face-offs. Now, the campaign takes its flair for the creative IRL, providing that level of whimsy to real-life Lyft-ers.
