'Call of Duty: Black Ops' Becomes Best-Selling Video Game in U.S. History
"Call of Duty: Black Ops" again sold more copies in stores than any other video game last month, continuing an impressive run dating back to its November release and making it the best-selling video game in U.S. history, according to NPD Group research.
"Dead Space 2" fell from No. 3 in January to No. 5 in February as "NBA 2K11" jumped from No. 6 to No. 4 and the new release "Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds" debuted at No. 2 -- helping to push last month's No. 10, "DC Universe Online: The Next Legend Is You," off the chart in the process.
Electronic Arts and Activision recently pointed out that NPD's monthly data covers just physical sales in stores, however, not online purchases through services including Xbox Live, PlayStation Network or Steam. So overall sales of "DC Universe Online," which is available on services like Steam, may be larger than the monthly chart suggests. NPD does release a quarterly report on digital sales.
Among other new releases, "Bulletstorm" took the seventh spot in February while "Killzone 3" took eighth.
