Fox shakes up ad sales to focus on tech

Fox is expanding its ad sales team with an emphasis on growing its tech capabilities, the company announced today. The media company will maintain its teams devoted to sports, news and entertainment verticals, and is adding new positions to better align them through Fox’s audience buying platform and innovate on its cross-portfolio sales strategy. See all of Ad Age’s 40 Under 40 honorees here The shift is being led by Jeff Collins, Fox’s president of advertising sales, marketing and brand partnerships, who was named to the role earlier this year after former Fox ad chief Marianne Gambelli retired. Collins previously told Ad Age that his top priorities entering the role were to accelerate ad tech innovation at Fox in response to common feedback from advertisers that buying was too siloed, and to better communicate Fox’s advancements to the market. The OneFox strategy mirrors similar reorgs from other major network groups to simplify ad buying across expansive portfolios and aggregate audience scale across channels and platforms through a core data offering. NBCUniversal began touting its OnePlatform model for cross-portfolio sales in 2020, and more recently Warner Bros. Discovery brought its similar One WBD pitch to this year’s upfront market backed by its new audience tool Olli. As part of Fox’s rework, Collins created multiple new roles and expanded existing executives’ remit. Ebony Moore joins from WBD as senior VP, client services to lead relationships with Fox’s top advertisers. Brian Schepis, also joining from WBD, was named senior VP of yield management, to develop sales strategies based on market data and conditions. Both will report to Michael Falco, executive VP of revenue management and strategy, who adds oversight of Fox News revenue to his role. Fox’s senior VP of advanced TV solutions, Darren Sherriff, will lead advanced audience and currency practices, and its senior VP of business development, Chris Casscells, will lead new business for ad sales. Joining the two executives’ team is Matthew Jamison, who was named senior VP of ad sales strategy and partnerships. Jamison joins from DirecTV and will lead Fox’s market strategy and liaise with the Ad Rise team to further develop capabilities for advertisers. Kym Frank, joining from data company Motionworks, was named senior VP of ad sales research. In the role, Frank will lead a cross-platform research team including developing Fox’s capabilities in attribution measurement and analytics innovation.
