Hallmark Cards and ex-astronaut Neil Armstrong this week reached an out-of-court settlement in Mr. Armstrong's claim against Hallmark for misappropriating his name and likeness with its 1994 Keepsake Ornament equipped with a computer sound chip featuring the statement: "The Eagle has landed." Hallmark did not have a licensing agreement with Mr. Armstrong and paid a "substantial," undisclosed fee to settle the matter. No suit had been filed in the matter.
