Henkel acquires companies in Finland, Sweden

DUESSELDORF -- Henkel has acquired from Oy Hackman Ab Helsinki three consumer goods companies in Finland and Sweden that produce and market household cleaners, detergents and health and beauty products. The three companies, Hackman Havi Oy AB, Tamkos Oy (both Helsinki, Finland) and Hackman Havi AB Stockholm, Sweden, together have sales of $30m. They bring to Henkel's brand portfolio names such as Tend detergents, Mini Risk detergents and cleaners, Mantysuopa and Tolu household cleaners and skincare line Mirame. McCann-Erickson handles the detergent brands, while D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles works on the Mirame and Tolu businesses. Henkel is already active in the Nordic region with its Poly hair care line, its Vademecum skin care, WC Ankka toilet cleaner and plant fertilizer Substral. However, it has no detergents or cleaners on that market. The company will not comment on its future plans for the region following these acquisitions. Henkel's sales in the area amount to $120m.
