U.K. publisher to buy Imagine Media

Future Publishing Holdings, a London-based publisher of PC and videogame magazines, agreed to buy Imagine Media, a U.S. publisher of magazines and Web sites covering computing, games and the Internet. Imagine's single-copy retail sales have increased to $35 million from $4 million during the past five years. Based in the San Francisco Bay area, Imagine Media has eight publications. With the acquisition, Future Publishing now has more than 100 magazines with total 1998 revenue topping $320 million. Copyright May 1999, Crain Communications Inc.
