Traction CEO Adam Kleinberg says "we've built an agency at the intersection of psychology and technology."
Consider, for example, the San Francisco digital agency's recent work bringing calamansi juice -- a cross between lime and mandarin orange that is massively popular in the Philippines -- to the U.S. Pacific Fruit & Beverage Company approached Traction with the idea, and the agency took equity in the new brand it named Nomsi as part of its compensation.
Founded a dozen years ago, Traction brought in $6 million in revenue off billings of $9 million in 2012. This year, the agency projects it will have revenue of $10 million from $18 million in billings, and the 38-person shop counts Adobe, Kelly-Moore Paints and California Bank & Trust as top clients.
Traction also prides itself on an innovative culture that includes guaranteeing employees time off for events like Burning Man and SXSW where they can recharge their batteries and get inspired.
