Ringan Ledwidge's "Clowns," for Audi, was one of the finest craft ads of 2017, and it's one to watch for Cannes this year. Named Creativity's No. 1 TV spot of the year, the film juxtaposed ridiculous clowns and their shocking driving antics with a graceful demonstration of the car's tech capabilities, all set to an elegiac cover of "Send in the Clowns."
Other standout work from the London-based company included Daniel Kleinman's Christmas ad for Marks & Spencer featuring Paddington Bear, which struck just the right balance between heartwarming and entertaining and felt in keeping with the "Paddington 2" feature film itself.
Sara Dunlop (selected through Free the Bid) directed HP's "Reinvent Giving," a feel-good holiday story about a creative young woman who treats a little girl who lives in the apartment across the alley to a special surprise.
Traktor was in peak form staging Tide's entertaining Super Bowl stunt '#BradshawStain' with panache – despite being from Sweden and not even knowing who Terry Bradshaw was. The Swedes then returned for this year's big game, helming the multi-spot satire of other big game ads, starring "Stranger Things" actor David Harbour.
