NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Lindsay Lohan may have failed a drug test, but it looks like she might be having an easier time on the litigation front.
E-Trade, Lohan Settle Super Bowl Ad Suit

A settlement appears to have been reached between the actress and E-Trade, in which she sought $100 million in damages from the online broker for a commercial that ran on the Super Bowl. The spot, called "Girlfriend," was from Grey, New York, and showed a baby talking to his girlfriend about the importance of buying a diversified portfolio. In the commercial, the girl baby is enraged about what the boy baby has been otherwise up to. The female baby then sneers, "And that milkaholic Lindsay wasn't over?"
At the time, Ms. Lohan's agent told the New York Post it was a clear reference to her client. "Many celebrities are known by one name only and E-Trade is using that knowledge to profit. They used the name Lindsay." She continued, "They are using her name as a parody of her life. Why didn't they use the name Susan? This is a subliminal message."
In a statement today, E-Trade said the company "has always maintained that the claims [by Ms. Lohan] were without merit, which is why we moved to dismiss the case. With the case now withdrawn, we are pleased to have the matter behind us." Grey declined to comment.
When asked whether there was a cash settlement, an E-Trade spokeswoman declined to discuss specific terms, but said, "It was a simple business decision. We always have to consider the cost and time involved in litigation -- and we are pleased to have this matter behind us."
Ms. Lohan, on the other hand, might have a lot of free time pending the outcome of her court appearance Friday.
