Nerds Super Bowl teaser features TikTok star Addison Rae

Nerds is looking to TikToker, singer and dancer Addison Rae to learn some moves for its first Super Bowl spot. The candy brand today released a teaser featuring Rae in a dance studio, teaching an unseen student who will be revealed in the full spot. Rae demonstrates the choreography, set to Irene Cara’s “Flashdance ... What a Feeling,” the Oscar-winning hit song from the 1983 movie “Flashdance.” She then takes a break to eat some Nerds Gummy Clusters. Digitas Chicago is handling the ad, while the teaser was developed by Ferrara, Golin and Unit9 films. Mindshare is handling paid media while AUC is overseeing retail. The teaser will be posted on Rae’s and Nerds’ TikTok and Instagram profiles. She got her start on TikTok in 2019, uploading short dance videos to popular songs. In 2020, Charli D’Amelio and YouTuber Zach King appeared in the Sabra Hummus Big Game ad, which was replete with other celebrities, including wrestler Rick Flair, Megan Thee Stallion, T-Pain, Becky G, gamer Bugha and even Doug the Pug. The 30-second Nerds spot will air during the second quarter of the Feb. 11 game on CBS and Nickelodeon’s kid-friendly broadcast of the game.
