All animals, presumably, yearn to fly—it’s one of the most elemental dreams of all. And Aeroméxico captures it beautifully in the launch spot for a new global campaign, “Esto es Volar” (“This is flying”).

The 90-second film created by Wieden+Kennedy Mexico and director Nic Yiallouris of The Mill tells the tale of an iguana who’s obsessed with the sky practically from birth, as he spies an Aeroméxico plane before he’s even emerged from his shell.

Luckily, he finds a friend willing to help out, and they take off, Amos and Boris-like, on a grand adventure.

The work, which uses state-of-the-art CGI technology, is visually impressive. And the Will Cookson track “Burning Bridges” work well in plucking the heartstrings. The goal of the campaign is to convey that Aeroméxico passengers can embark on extraordinary journeys.

“Aeroméxico has always been an iconic Mexican company, and now we have the honor to expand the brand’s legacy and strengthen its connection with consumers. Together, we created a campaign inspired by timeless animated films audiences know and love, with the hope that it resonates with a new generation of flyers,” said Jessica Apellainz, executive creative director at W+K Mexico.

“The debut of our new global campaign marks such a special moment for Aeroméxico—signifying a significant step in our journey to further convey that flying with us is all about living extraordinary experiences,” added Mario Vivanco, creative senior manager at Aeroméxico. “‘Esto es volar’ embodies this vision, utilizing the power of creative storytelling to illuminate the unparalleled essence of Aeroméxico’s flights. We are thrilled to share this wonderful campaign with the world.”
