Amazon gets Adam Driver to dramatically act out the site’s most hilarious 5-star reviews

Adam Driver acts out ridiculously hilarious 5-star Amazon reviews in a holiday campaign to inspire customers to shop for gifts during Black Friday week.
An extension of Amazon’s ongoing “Joy Is Shared” campaign, “5-Star Theater” depicts Driver dramatically narrating some of the funniest Amazon 5-star product reviews of different popular holiday items, from a massage gun to an Elf on the Shelf to Amazon’s most famously reviewed item—a banana slicer (see above).
Additional items reviewed include a seal plush and Dutch oven (see the videos below). Each time, the review is more ridiculous than the last, with customers hailing the products worthy enough to make love with—or die for.
“What these reviews have shown us is that some of our best writers are our customers, and we love how this campaign brings them into the spotlight,” said Jo Shoesmith, Amazon’s global chief creative officer. “I mean, if watching an Oscar-nominated actor deliver a passionate monologue about a banana slicer doesn’t make you laugh, I don’t know what will.”
Produced by Amazon’s internal team and directed by Caviar’s Jonathan Krisel, the spots feature Driver sitting cozily in front of a Christmas tree backdropped by a piano solo. Many of the items reviewed are on sale during Amazon’s Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday events, running from Nov. 21 to Dec. 2.

“What’s more compelling than the deeply personal, yet very public, Amazon review?” Driver said in a statement. “Immortalized readings of the marriage-saving qualities of a banana slicer? The nuances of rubber duck collecting? Nothing says the holidays like grabbing a glass of something and telling people what you really think. Merry Christmas to myself.”
The campaign, running only in the U.S., will have new spots highlighting additional 5-star customer product reviews rolling out throughout the holiday. The spots will run across paid social media channels, including TikTok, Meta and Snapchat, premium online video, including Thursday Night Football on Prime Video, A&E, Disney and Hulu, Fox and Tubi, Max, NBC and Peacock, Paramount, Samsung, Nexstar, Vevo, YouTube, and CTV device partners, and Amazon’s Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts.
