A&W Restaurants made a workout kit 💪 so you can lift its root beer floats
Cornett campaign also invites customers to show off their ‘Float Flex’ to get free product in stores
Editor's Pick
You can’t be expected to rawdog the ginormous 3-pound, 5-ounce root beer floats at A&W Restaurants. Which is why Cornett has come up with a workout kit—and is encouraging everyone to improve their upper body strength—ahead of National Root Beer Float Day on Tuesday (Aug. 6).
The workout kit will be bestowed upon two lucky winners who drop a 💪 emoji into the comments of the Instagram video below. Then on Tuesday, the chain will offer a more broadly available promotion: a free small root beer float to anyone who shows off their “Float Flex”—aka, their best muscular pose—at participating U.S. A&W locations between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time.
The campaign includes an influencer element, including Keith Habersberger of The Try Guys, as well as paid social media ads.
“A&W’s iconic Root Beer Float is without a doubt one of the heaviest drinks in the quick service restaurant industry,” said Liz Bazner, VP of marketing and innovation at A&W. “It’s so heavy that we worried we might be missing out on a whole untapped market of folks that simply can’t handle its hugeness. This National Root Beer Float Day, we wanted to get everyone pumped up and ready to enjoy their free float.”
