Online romance can be a minefield of bad behavior, as anyone who's watched "The Tinder Swindler" knows. Now a new campaign from dating app Badoo calls out the bad etiquette by putting digital scenarios into the real world.

A series of films airing across Europe on social channels imagines behavior such as sending unsolicited dirty photos, monosyllabic conversations, unwelcome surprises and not being straight about your intentions. For example, in one film, a man goes around a cafe putting eggplants on the tables of various women (and one guy). Another scenario sees a woman arrive at her date's house wearing only a coat and undies, and then ends up having dinner with his family. And then there's a couple who meet IRL but only exchange the word "hey."

The idea is to highlight Badoo's features that are specifically designed to fix such behavior; including the ability to clearly state your intentions; a "rude message" detector, and a "clips" feature that allows members to express their personality through 15-second videos.

The campaign was created by an in-house creative team in collaboration with Analog Folk-owned content production company Untold Fable. Comedy director Sami Abusamra shot the films in multiple locations in Sofia, Bulgaria.

“We believe dating should always be fun and we’re on a mission to discourage any expectation or behavior that stops dating from being exactly that," said Luke Crisell, global head of creative at Badoo, in a statement. "Badoo’s new creative showcases bad dating behaviors we discourage by putting them in real-life scenarios.”
