After a client-enforced cooling-down period, New York brand-building agency Powell has graced us with all three of its banned Rheingold billboards, which were set to launch during the Republican National Convention. As reported in The Daily News at the time, but barely noticed amid the nerve-racking hubbub of the week, the work fell victim to a last-minute censor's ax, via Titan Outdoor and web grocer Fresh Direct, which was leasing some of its ad space to Rheingold. The real-people ads, shot on the streets of New York by a local photographer known as Mr. Means (see tkwww.onenakedegg.com), "went to press, and we were all looking forward to seeing them on the streets," explains Powell strategy director Josh Rogers. "The day before the convention began, we were notified that the campaign had been banned altogether. We were surprised, and we couldn't help wondering if the media companies censored the campaign because of their own political leanings
