Having encouraged young Black single people to get vaccinated in order to start dating with "Vax That Thang Up," the Match.com-owned dating app BLK has now turned its attention to voting.
A new campaign from the same agency, Majority, aims to empower young Z voters via a hip hop music video performed by female rapper Trina and rising rap star Saucy Santana. With lines like, “He got mad jokes, he don’t seem broke, the only red flag - he say he don’t vote," the track, called "No Voting No Vucking," conveys the message that not voting is a turn-off.The campaign promotes the fact that BLK, which is he largest dating app for Black singles, recently released an in-app Election Center; it will also incorporate in-app and other digital features to encourage young Black singles to get involved in the voting process. It was released this week to mark National Voter Education Week.
"We couldn’t be more excited to announce this collaboration with two of the most trailblazing figures in hip-hop and culture,” said Jonathan Kirkland, head of brand and marketing for BLK, in a statement. “Our users are inspired by Trina’s confidence and her powerful female-first lyrics, while Saucy Santana’s fervent and self-assured lyrics have broken barriers of inclusivity in the hip-hop community. With these two cultural icons, we hope to empower a new generation of young voters to get involved in this and future elections.”
Of the creative approach, Majority Founder and CEO Omid Farhang explained: “Attraction boils down to how one prioritizes the physical, emotional and intellectual. To encourage more singles to vote, we're formally adding civic duty to that priority list."
"I’m honored to use my platform to empower young people because not voting is definitely a red flag in a relationship. Period, ” said Saucy Santana in a statement.
