Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive' Becomes Power Song for Avon Sellers
New Campaign From Terri & Sandy Recasts Classic Tune for Female Bosses
Editor's Pick
Avon has turned Gloria Gaynor's classic women's empowerment tune "I Will Survive" into an uplifting anthem for Avon sellers in a new campaign from Terri & Sandy.
A music-video style ad tells the story of a woman who once spent her life as an office zombie, "filing data" mindlessly while getting pasty under her office's fluorescent lights. But finally, through Avon, she broke free and became her own boss -- one who makes her own schedule and is able to multi-task and cares for her family as she pleases.
The vibrant, fun film has all the makings of a Broadway production, with bold music, a spectacular color palette and plenty of exuberant dancing. It's just the start of the multi-platform "This Is Boss Life" campaign that also includes print ads highlighting real-life Avon "bosses," including "The Millennial," a woman who started selling Avon in college and continues to do so alongside her full-time career as an architectural designer; "The Momtrepreneur," a rep named Lydia who can enjoy time with her two daughters freely because of Avon and "The Power Couple," Milagros and Carlos, a married duo who work as a tag-team selling Avon products.
"Avon has been enabling women to gain financial security since 1886, 34 years before women had won the right to vote," said Terri & Sandy co-founder Terri Meyer in a statement. "We wanted to leverage what's already in the brand's DNA -- strong, confident, and successful female entrepreneurs, and showcase the flexible earnings opportunity that Avon makes possible."
