The third season of Netlfix’s “Stranger Things” is dropping on July 4, and brands have been jumping in to help promote the show. Coca-Cola, for example, took the opportunity to resurrect its failed ‘80s product, New Coke, and now, Burger King is introducing a themed burger—the Upside Down Whopper.
The product plays on the show’s creepy otherworld, the Upside Down, which suggests that the burger may be covered with slime and bio-matter. But basically, it’s just what its name says, a Whopper served upside down (but at least it comes in “Stranger Things”-themed box).
Burger King is teasing the offering with a video inspired by "Stranger Things" intro, featuring similar glowing red typography and eerie music. The Upside Down Whopper will be available beginning on June 21 in select markets, including L.A., San Francisco, New York, Miami, Boston, Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Chicago. Some stores will also have “Stranger Things” crowns, ketchup packets, tees and pins.
